Hollow backed metal tinnie in a silver finish. There is an emblem of an eagle spanning the centre of the badge, with wing tips extended over the side edges. Above is a shield emblem, containing a cross, five stars and a swastika. The shield is surmounted over a sun emblem. Below the eagle is a representation of a land mass. There is a border inscription around the badge reading REICHSKOLONIALTAGUNG WIEN 16.-18.MAI 1939 (Colonial conference in Vienna 16-18 May 1939).
A retaining pin is attached to the reverse.
