On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The 2nd class cross was for award to personnel who performed a single act of bravery in combat.
The cross is a three piece construction type and it shows some wear, an amazing patina of its 80+ years and great detail overall. It comes with its original ribbon as found.
The cross is maker marked with number "23" on the suspension ring, indicating the production by the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Heeresbedarf in der Graveur- und Ziselierer-Innung" from Berlin.
