LIFE SAVING MEDAL
345,00 €
Very nice example of the Life Saving Medal (Rettungsmedaille) of the Third Reich. The obverse centre of the medal presents the German national eagle bearing a swastika over the chest, the reverse centre shows the inscription FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR (for rescuing from danger), surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The silver finish is still mostly intact.
Medal measures 25 mm in diameter and it still retains its period original ribbon.
Medal was awarded to persons who succesfully saved others from death or very great peril at risk of their own lives. Recommendations for the Medal were dealt with by the Ministry of the Interior and the citation for the Medals was signed personally by Hitler.
A scarce medal in very fine condition.
