GERMAN CROSS IN GOLD RECIPIENT JACKET AND DOCUMENTS
Awesome group belonged to a German Cross in Gold winner.
Alfred Paschke was born in Matziwitz Kreis Grottkau (Schlesien) on July 15, 1907.
He entered the German Army during the Weimar Republic and served, since the beginning, in an Artillery Regiment. Before the war he reached the rank of Hauptmann and during the war he served in different regiments as Bataillon commander. In 1942 he was promoted to the rank of Major and in 1944 to the rank of Oberstleutnant. He received the Wound badge in Black, the Iron Cross Second and First Class and the German Cross in Gold while serving as commander of the Artillery Regiment 208, under control of the 208 Infantry Division, in the Tarnopol-Podosk area (Nord Ukraine). He was lately captured by Russian and was prisoner of war until 1949, then he returned in Germany.
The group consists of Alfred Paschke tunic and a huge group of documents that cover the years from 1925 to 1971.
The tunic is red piped, it shows the shoulder boards with the rank of Major but with visible traces of one pip clearly removed, so originally the tunic had the rank of Oberstleutnant.
Tunic is complete with all the insigne and all are wartime applied; it is possible to be 100% sure because everything is perfectly matching in the wartime pictures. The same tunic is visible in a couple of pictures.
The document grouping consist of dozens of documents and includes:
- German Cross in Gold document (signed by Keitel)
- Iron Cross First Class document (signed by 68 Infantry Division commander Generalleutnant Georg Braun)
- Iron Cross Second Class document (signed by 68 Infantry Division commander Generalleutnant Georg Braun)
- Wound badge in Black document (signed by 168 Art. Rgt, commander Generalmajor Otto Quirin Lancelle)
- Long service medal for 4 year in Wehrmacht
- Long service medal for 12 year in Wehrmacht (signed by 3 Artillery Regiment commander Oberst Max Mühlmann)
And again:
- Sport books
- Truppenausweiss
- Drivers licence in Whermacht
- Promotions documents
- Postwar documents related to his military service
and much much more.
This is an awesome group, a really special piece of History of the Second World War, belonged to a high decorated officer. A German Cross in Gold commander tunic is something very special for every collector to obtain.
A top group that makes itself an entire collection.
